http://www.edmunds.com/insidel... He was tall, looked fit in his spandex bicycling gear and — the reason we were a bit nervous — he was glaring at the little silver roadster with distaste. Had we inadvertently forced him off the road on one of our passes while photographing the electric-powered 2008 Tesla Roadster? No. His problem, it turns out, is that the car is "too quiet." The Tesla, clean and silent but for the hiss of tires on asphalt and the whine of the electric motor's cooling fan, disturbed him because he didn't hear it coming as we scooted by him on a twisty section of Skyline Boulevard in the mountains above Tesla's headquarters in San Carlos, California.

I think if somehow within the next five to ten years battery technology progressed massively. The electric car could be a hit I've heard Toyota are working on producing better battery technology.I'm not 100% sure.

If you charge this car with solar panels the cost of you 220 miles range is 0 Euro. Low Range? How much is the range of some Ferrari for example with 0 Euro of fuel. I think is lower than this Tesla car.

I'm getting one of these for my 16th birthday in January

That's correct. AND, under normal day to day driving, you could plug it in every night. We don't go to the gas station every day, but a simple plug in at home and you would never notice the range issue under normal conditions.

OK, I'm so frustrated with the typical reviews that these guys do with electric cars. 200 miles on one charge. They're not getting the regular use of a car. Most people go to work and return each day with less than 30 miles on their car. In the real world, the electric car should be your daily driver. A gas burner could be kept in the barn for the weekend trip. I drive to work where I can plug a car in. I can then plug in at night. Never discharging very deep and recharging quickly.

220 miles is short commute? and its actuly 244 to be extact and, full charge the o-60 is 3.9 seconds but, 6 seconds still isnt bad. i think the only thing wrong with this car is the price. reply and tell me what you think.

I believe he was comparing it to the Fisher-Price Model 330. Its at your local Toys-R-Us.

when he says that the car gets "only" 220 miles range you might want to compare that to my car, a (purely petrol) 1999 Peugeot 406 V6 Coupe which gets about 300 km to a tank. Admtedly, I don't have to worry about my (still very awesome) car slowing down as the tank runs down but I think the Tesla actually gets better range.
