ferrets will try to kill a chinchilla, I almost didn't save my friends chin from my brothers ferret.

The ferrets may be a possible companion. My friend's rabbit and my chin get along fine. As for my cats, they avoid my chin. I had a guinea pig a while back who would chase them around the house, since then anything shaped like a guinea pig terrifies them and they high tail it to the other side of the house. But I wouldn't risk it if you even doubt your cat's behavior in the least.

It's generally recommended to avoid mixing chinchillas with other pets, especially those with a high prey drive like cats and some dogs like terriers. I'm not even sure about ferrets really. Personally, I wouldn't risk it.
