I just got one after a 20 year itch. DX7II-D. My MS2000 sounds way better than it, but.... there is a certain character to the DX7, that other synths dont possess. I absolutely love this keyboard. Having a legend on my keyboard stand is awesome ;)

I've owned Korgs and Rolands (currently a Korg M1 and Roland D20), but I've always secretly lusted for a DX7. Just something really cool about that ol' synth - even if it was a bitch to program!

I replied with a video that gives you the real Yamaha DX7 (original DX) sound. What you need to do is alter all the sounds that came with the cards and use your ear to adjust them.If you don't? all sounds sound the same. But you need a good ear to do so. Almost all the sounds on the standard cards are the basis of a great 100% original sound.Use them to make your own. :)

I've got that synthesizer for about 200 euros. And I NEVER sell it! Built like a tank and fantastic sounding synth engine (FM at it's maximum power), newer digital keyboards must take example from this 1989 digital synthesizer regarding the warmness and body of the sound.

This piece of technological art combined with an Amiga and a MIDI box did amazing things for my creativity some 10-15 years ago - I remembered the sounds being much better than in this vid? Wonderful organ, el-piano and accordion sounds

Like the synthesizers used by Duran Duran at the time probably.

The german PPG Wave synths are in the early 80`s very important instruments. Many New Wave groups uses the PPG´s. (Depeche Mode, Fixx and many others) |
